On New Year’s Day, many people create healthy lifestyle resolutions that don’t last beyond Valentine’s Day. But now it’s summertime and the pressure is on to sculpt your body for summer beach wear. Santonio Springs, fitness expert, says we shouldn’t exercise just to prepare for our summer beach trip. “If you are tired all the time or cannot climb steps without losing your breath, then it’s time to consider adding exercise and rest to your schedule”, says Springs. A healthy diet and exercise will reduce the chance of heart attack, stroke and obesity. The hardest part to starting a healthy lifestyle is recognizing the potential long-term health problems.
Springs says, “Some of my clients have a donut and a soda for breakfast and then make-up for the unhealthy breakfast by skipping lunch. By dinner they are drained and they look forward to having another unhealthy breakfast the following morning.” Don’t wait until it is too late to make a change in your health. Be inspired and set realistic goals for yourself. Medical conditions like obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure are preventable with a healthy diet, plenty of rest, and exercise. Replace the donut with wheat bread and the coke with water. Try to eat more often during the day rather than skipping meals to supplement unhealthy food choices. Eat several healthy snacks along with breakfast, lunch and dinner, get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep and exercise 2 to 3 times a week. You will look better, live better, feel better and it will actually be much easier to get that beach body you want.
